Nokia 6820 GPRS & Palm Tungsten T2
Contents
Introduction
Below are instructions for configuring a network connection on a Palm Tungsten T2 to connect over bluetooth to a Nokia 6820 phone. This allows you to use any of the Internet apps available for the Palm such as VersaMail, WebPro, PalmVNC, pssh, etc...
The network connection details below are specific for AT&T Wireless in the US. For other networks it will be necessary to obtain the APN ("proxy" in this case), username, and password. I adapted these instructions from information I found for a different Nokia model. So these may work for other models too, as long as the phone supports GPRS.

1. Enable Bluetooth
On the Phone:
- Enable bluetooth with: Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> Bluetooth -> Bluetooth -> On
- Name your phone with: Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> Bluetooth -> Bluetooth settings -> My phone's name
On the Palm:
- Prefs -> Communication -> Bluetooth
- set "Bluetooth" to "On"
- set "Device Name" to whatever you feel like (e.g. "T2")
- set "Discoverable" to "No"
- set "Allow Wakeup" to "No"
- select "Trusted Devices"
- select "Add Device". The Palm will now search for bluetooth devices and present a list with those found.
- select the correct device from the list and then select "OK".
- You will be prompted for a passkey. Use any NUMBER (although you can enter anything on the Palm, the 6820 limits you to numbers only). Select "OK".
- (on the 6820)
- You will be prompted to "Pair with <device>". Select "Accept".
- You will be prompted to "Enter passcode". Use the same number entered for the "passkey" above. Select "OK".
- Select "Done", "Done"
On the Phone:
- Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> Bluetooth -> Paired devices
- scroll to the palm device and select "Options".
- select "Request conn. authorization" and choose "No". This will avoid you having to manually "accept" bluetooth connections coming from the Palm.
2. Create a new Connection
On the Palm:
- Prefs -> Communication -> Connection
- select "New"
- set "Name:" to whatever (e.g. "6820 GPRS")
- set "Connect to:" to "Phone"
- set "Via:" to "Bluetooth"
- set "Device:" select your phone bluetooth device.
- change "Connect to" to "PC"
- select "Details..."
- set "Speed:" to "115,200 bps" - seems to work for me.
- leave "Flow Ctl:" set to "Automatic"
- select "OK, "OK", and "Done"
3. Create a new Network
On the Palm:
- Prefs -> Communicaton -> Network
- select "New"
- set "User Name:" to "wapuser1"
- set "Password:" to "wap"
- set "Connection:" to the connection created in step 1 above
- select "Details..."
- leave "Connection type:" as "PPP"
- leave "Query DNS" checked
- leave "IP Address" checked
- select "Script..." and fill out as follows:
Send: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","proxy" Send CR: Delay: 3 Send: ATD*99# Send CR: Delay: 3 Wait For: CONNECT End: - select "OK", "OK", and then "Connect" to test out the settings. You
should see the following messages:
- (palm) Initializing
- (phone) Connected to <palm device name>
- (palm) Signing on
- (phone) Creating GPRS connection
- (palm) Established
- select "Done".
